Elastic appoints former Snowflake exec as VP to drive APJ growth

Search-powered solutions provider Elastic has named Sanjay Deshmukh as its new Vice President for the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, aiming to expand its presence and operations across the area.

Deshmukh brings rich experience in the enterprise software industry, having held senior roles at companies including Snowflake, VMware, Citrix, SAP, and Business Objects. Most recently, he served as Senior Regional Vice President for ASEAN and India at Snowflake. Prior to that, he spent over seven years at VMware in various leadership roles across South East Asia and Asia Pacific.

In his new role, Deshmukh will lead the company’s growth strategy across APJ, with a focus on building customer relationships and strengthening its network of partners. His appointment comes at a time when interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is growing rapidly in the region.

Elastic said the move aligns with its strategy to respond to increased demand for AI-powered solutions and to support organisations navigating digital transformation. The company aims to meet this demand through its search-based platform that integrates security, observability, and data analysis.

Deshmukh highlighted the growing need to connect data efficiently to power AI solutions that can address real business challenges.

His educational portfolio includes MBA in Sales and Marketing from Institute of Technology and Management, Mumbai.
