Electronics and semiconductor manufacturing company Tata Electronics Private Limited has appointed KC Ang as President and Head of Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing Private Limited. Ang will report to Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics, and will lead the company's semiconductor foundry operations.

With over 30 years of experience in the foundry industry, Ang has expertise in fab start-up, management, operations, and technology transfer. His career has taken him across multiple countries, including Malaysia, Germany, the United States, and China. Before joining Tata Electronics, he was President for Asia and Chairman for China at Global Foundries, where he worked for over 15 years.

Ang holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University and a Master's degree in Engineering from the University of Texas. He will oversee the development of Tata Electronics' AI-enabled foundry operations and work on strengthening partnerships to establish the company as a global semiconductor manufacturer.

His appointment comes at a time when India is expanding its presence in semiconductor manufacturing, with increased government support and investment in the sector.  

Thakur noted that Ang’s experience in leading large-scale semiconductor projects would be invaluable as Tata Electronics moves towards full-scale production.

Ang said that this sector is poised to make a significant global impact in the coming years, and I look forward to leveraging my experience to drive Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing to the forefront of global chip manufacturing.
