Tech Mahindra, the IT services provider, has completed the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for Coal India Limited (CIL), a public sector coal mining company. The project aims to improve data management, reporting, and decision-making through digital tools.

The company deployed SAP-ERP across CIL’s corporate office and three subsidiaries, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, Western Coalfields Limited, and North-Eastern Coalfields. Additionally, a Hospital Management System (HMS) was introduced in 21 hospitals under CIL’s subsidiaries to streamline processes such as patient registration, billing, discharge, and inventory management of medicines and consumables.

CIL is targeting a coal production of 1 billion tonnes while expanding into solar energy, thermal power, coal gasification, and critical minerals. The ERP system is expected to support this expansion by providing real-time data on production, distribution, stock levels, and coal quality. The system also enhances monitoring and decision-making for CIL’s leadership.
