Tata Comm brings cloud fabric to cut costs, simplify multi-cloud for businesses

Tata Communications on Thursday launched Vayu, a next-generation cloud fabric designed to reduce cloud costs and manage multi-cloud complexities in the enterprise.
Vayu AI Cloud will provide on-demand access to high-performance NVIDIA GPUs, eliminating costly infrastructure investments and enabling seamless Artificial Intelligence (AI) model training. It also features an AI Studio to accelerate innovation further empowering businesses, the company said in a statement.
The key features of Vayu include seamless multi-cloud integration like Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), AI, security and connectivity, reducing cloud costs by up to 30%. “Compared with large cloud service providers, Vayu reduces costs by 15-25%, with no data egress charges or hidden fees,” it added.

Vayu’s PaaS services further simplify application deployment with serverless computing, auto-scaling and managed databases. Its Al/Machine Learning (ML) platform streamlines model training and deployment, while built-in API management, microservices and integrated DevOps tools automate workflows, enabling enterprises to innovate rapidly without infrastructure management burdens.
Commenting on the launch, Tata Communications managing director and CEO A.S. Lakshminarayanan said, “As the digital era accelerates, the need for enterprise cloud and AI solutions that balance performance, cost and sustainability has never been greater. Tata Communications Vayu is more than a product—it will pioneer a new way forward for businesses to integrate, uncomplicate and innovate.”
Additionally, integrated generative AI and AIOps automate operations and enhance intelligent monitoring, while AI-driven DevOps tools and advanced training platforms empower businesses to deploy AI efficiently, reducing complexity and controlling costs.

"Tata Communications Vayu signifies a transformational shift. Enterprises today need more than just basic cloud services, and our latest offering is the beginning of a new chapter in cloud evolution, one where technology is no longer an obstacle but an enabler of limitless possibilities," said Bhaskar Gorti, Executive Vice President, Cloud and Cybersecurity Services, Tata Communications.
Vayu also features a zero-trust security framework, advanced identity and access controls, and compliance with key regulations such as the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules 2025, RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The new launch comes less than a week after Tata Communications appointed N. Ganapathy Subramaniam as the Chairman of its Board of Directors. This decision follows his extensive tenure within the Tata Group, where he has played a pivotal role in steering technological advancements and operational transformations. Subramaniam, a Non-Executive Director of Tata Communications since December 2021, brings over four decades of experience in the technology sector. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he contributed to the company’s digital transformation.

Meanwhile, the Indian public cloud services market is set to grow to $25.5 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 24.3% over the next three years, according to research by IDC published in January. Fuelling this growth are key drivers such as the growing pace of digital transformation, a preference for as-a-service consumption models to optimise costs, and the burgeoning adoption of generative AI, the research firm said.
