Confluent to grow India workforce by 20%

Data streaming firm Confluent will add 20% to its India workforce in 2025, the company announced on the sidelines of its flagship event in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Further, the company claims that it surpassed its projected headcount growth, expanding its India team of 400 by 50% instead of the initially planned 25%. Confluent's India workforce currently stands at an estimated 600 employees, while its global headcount exceeds 3,000.
Jay Kreps, co-founder and CEO of Confluent, during a media interaction on the sidelines of the event, said that all the parts of the business have some representation in India, including full software development. Notably, Confluent’s India team fully manages the Confluent Platform and Connect Portfolio. Confluent's platform and Connect portfolio simplify real-time data streaming, integration, and processing using Apache Kafka, with a range of connectors, stream processing tools, and data governance features.
Responding to a question about the kind of customers Confluent serves in India, India country head Rubal Sahni said, “We see strong demand from BFSI, digital natives, telecom, travel, and entertainment — our high-traction verticals and major revenue contributors. Additionally, there's growing interest from GCCs, legacy enterprises, and manufacturing, with a surge in diverse use cases.” Confluent’s customers in India include companies such as Swiggy, Mobile Premier League, and Meesho.

Notably, in February, Confluent signed an agreement with Jio Cloud Services, under which Confluent Platform will be offered as a managed service for India’s consumers and enterprises. It will make enterprise-grade security and governance available to these organisations to ensure trusted, secure data at extremely large scales.
The highlight of the Bengaluru event was introducing the general availability of Tableflow, a feature of Confluent Cloud. With Tableflow, all streaming data in Confluent Cloud can be accessed in popular open table formats, helping in advanced analytics, real-time AI, and next-generation applications.
Additionally, Confluent also announced new capabilities to Confluent Cloud for Apache Flink that streamline and simplify the process of developing real-time AI applications. To be sure, Confluent Cloud for Apache Flink is a fully managed, serverless stream processing service.
