
Tech Mahindra partners with Telefónica España to enhance its network operations


India’s fifth largest IT services company Tech Mahindra on Wednesday signed an agreement with Telefónica España, a major telecommunications provider in Spain to enhance its network operations.
The agreement will see Tech Mahindra provide operational support across network domains, service platforms, and TV services, transforming Telefónica España's infrastructure through unified workflows and seamless operations.
Tech Mahindra will leverage AI and automation to deliver advanced solutions, streamlining operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring quality service for Telefónica España's customers.

According to Harshul Asnani, President and Head of Europe Business, Tech Mahindra, the collaboration will address the need for innovative and scalable solutions in the evolving telecom landscape. Tech Mahindra will co-create transformative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement.
“As the telco industry navigates complex network modernisation and evolving consumer demands, the need for innovative, scalable solutions has never been greater,” he added.
This deal strengthens Tech Mahindra's presence in Europe, building on its 2021 partnership with Telefónica Germany. The new deal will further facilitate Telefónica España's autonomous network journey, enabling them to improve customer service and maintain market competitiveness.

In related news, Tech Mahindra has unveiled new multimodal large language models (LLMs) for telecom operators, developed on NVIDIA AI Enterprise software and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure, and based on Meta's Llama 3.1 8b instruct model.
The LLM aims to transform traditional telecom networks into fully autonomous networks by utilising generative and agentic AI frameworks trained on large network datasets, enabling proactive issue resolution and enhanced service quality. The announcement was made at Mobile World Congress 2025.
On Tuesday, Jio Platforms said that it has partnered with AMD, Nokia and Cisco to build an open-source AI platform for telcos, which will integrate AI and automation into every layer of telecom network operations. Software-as-a-service (SaaS) major Zoho has also said that it is developing its own Indic language-focussed LLM.
