Swiggy strengthens real-time delivery with Confluent’s data streaming

Swiggy, an on-demand convenience platforms, has partnered with Confluent to enhance its real-time data operations. By integrating Confluent’s managed data streaming platform, Swiggy aims to improve the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of its delivery services across nearly 700 cities in India.

In a market where consumers expect fast and reliable service, Swiggy relies on real-time data to coordinate with restaurants, delivery partners, and customers, the company said in a statement. Madhusudhan Rao, Swiggy’s Chief Technology Officer, highlighted the importance of this shift, stating that customers today demand more than just delivery – they expect reliability, transparency, and instant responses.

By moving from open-source Apache Kafka to Confluent’s managed platform, Swiggy has freed up valuable resources that were previously spent on maintaining data infrastructure. The new system helps the company calculate precise delivery times based on customer locations, manage sudden spikes in demand, and streamline complex workflows. During high-demand events like festivals, the platform ensures uninterrupted service by automatically scaling to handle increased orders.

Rubal Sahni, Area Vice President & Country Manager at Confluent India, described Swiggy’s success as a testament to the power of data streaming in overcoming operational challenges. He emphasised that the partnership demonstrates how businesses can turn data complexity into a competitive advantage.
