Digital payments platform Paytm has announced a partnership with Perplexity, an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven answer engine. This collaboration aims to integrate real-time AI-powered search within the Paytm app, allowing users to access quick and reliable financial information.

Perplexity, known for its fast and transparent AI-driven responses, will enhance the Paytm platform by providing users with instant insights on financial services, market trends, and other relevant topics. This move is expected to improve digital literacy and assist users in making informed decisions.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO of Paytm, highlighted the role of AI in shaping the future of digital interactions. "AI is transforming how people access information and make decisions. With Perplexity, we are bringing the power of AI to millions of Indian consumers, making knowledge and financial services more seamless and accessible," he said.

Aravind Srinivas, CEO and Co-founder of Perplexity, emphasised the significance of this partnership in India’s digital ecosystem. "Our AI-powered search technology will provide real-time, trusted answers to millions, enabling them to make informed decisions effortlessly," he said.

On Wednesday, the central government signed an agreement with Paytm to support startups by providing mentorship, infrastructure assistance, market access, and funding opportunities, according to an official statement.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Paytm to promote innovation and boost the growth of manufacturing and fintech startups in India, the Commerce and Industry Ministry said.

"As part of this collaboration, Paytm will offer guidance, infrastructure support, market access, and financial opportunities to startups, enabling them to expand and innovate," the statement added.
