Yotta joins India AI Mission to provide advanced GPU, AI cloud services

Yotta Data Services has been empaneled under the India AI Mission, a government initiative aimed at strengthening the country's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The company will contribute more than 50% of the AI Mission’s GPU computing capacity, which will be accessible through the upcoming India AI Mission portal.
Yotta will provide instant access to high-performance GPUs via its Shakti Cloud platform. The platform will support AI research and development by offering low-latency computing and a secure infrastructure. Yotta has also partnered with Microsoft Azure AI, Sarvam AI, and Hanooman AI to further enhance AI capabilities within India's sovereign cloud framework.
The company has committed over 9,216 GPUs to the India AI Mission, including 8,192 Nvidia H100 GPUs and 1,024 L40S GPUs. These resources will be deployed in phases from Yotta’s NM1 data center. Yotta’s services include AI Labs for students, AI Workspaces, GPU-as-a-Service, and API endpoints for AI models.

The company is also supporting the India AI Innovation Center’s efforts to develop indigenous AI models. Its hyperscale data centers and AI-ready cloud infrastructure will enable training of Large Multimodal Models (LMMs), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Small Language Models (SLMs). The company’s GPU and TPU clusters will allow startups, researchers, and enterprises to access AI compute resources without major upfront investment. AI models will be trained on locally stored datasets, ensuring compliance with data sovereignty regulations.
Through collaborations with Microsoft Azure AI, Sarvam AI, and Hanooman AI, Yotta aims to enhance AI accessibility and support research institutions and startups. The company’s role in the India AI Mission aligns with the government’s strategy of enabling private sector participation in AI infrastructure, promoting a market-driven AI ecosystem.
Sunil Gupta, CEO of Yotta, highlighted the importance of demand-side funding in the AI Mission. Instead of investing directly in AI infrastructure, the government is empowering service providers to deploy GPUs and offer cloud-based AI services. This approach allows researchers, startups, and enterprises to access computing resources as needed, driving AI innovation in India.
