Cloud services company Oracle, today, announced that Berger Paints India has moved all of its on-premises mission-critical databases to Oracle Exadata Database Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The country’s second-largest paint company has also migrated core business applications like financial & accounting and process manufacturing to OCI.

To be sure, Exadata Database Service is an automated Oracle Database service that enables organisations to run databases with high performance and cost-effectiveness. The service subscription is pay-as-you-go compute consumption and offers online scaling.

Berger Paints used Oracle Cloud in the Hyderabad and Mumbai regions for its cloud migration. With OCI, Berger Paints can now adapt its operations, manage demand surges, maintain costs, and optimize performance for optimal results. The company claims that the migration helped Berger Paints to improve operational efficiency by 25% and accelerated report generation and response time by two times.

“The migration to Oracle Exadata Database Service on OCI has played a crucial role in helping us improve operational efficiency and optimise costs. It has laid a solid foundation for us to deploy advanced technologies, such as AI and machine learning, to propel us into the next phase of digital transformation,” said Partha Protim Mondal, Chief Information Officer, Berger Paints India Ltd.

Several studies have a strong trend towards cloud-based database management, as many companies are actively migrating their on-premise databases to the cloud. A Mckinsey report in 2022 said that there’s clear economic potential for organisations looking to migrate to the cloud—up to $3 trillion in global value by 2030.
