Norwegian media intelligence firm Meltwater has announced an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub in Hyderabad. This is the company’s fourth center in India and part of a network spanning over 50 locations globally. The Hyderabad office will expand Meltwater’s global R&D presence and become its emerging AI hub.

The new Hyderabad office will serve as a dedicated AI hub, focusing on cutting-edge advancements in computer vision, speech-to-text, agentic AI, and more.

“In Hyderabad, our focus on AI innovations centers on advancing the analysis of multimodal content. With the growing influx of data from various sources, we are set to invest in computer vision technologies to analyse image and video content more effectively. This builds on our existing capabilities, such as speech-to-text solutions for processing videos and podcasts, and the development of agentic AI—or AI agents—that can power diverse use cases across our products,” Dhruv Gupta, Senior Director, Engineering & GM India, Meltwater told TechCircle.

The Hyderabad center is the second R&D center launched by Meltwater in four months, following the opening of its Mexico City office. This center will have a team of 20 engineers, with plans to hire more in the coming time. The company has also engaged with leaders from NASSCOM, T-AIM, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C) led by Jayesh Ranjan, and other GCC leaders, to strengthen its presence.

“Hyderabad’s vision to establish itself as the AI capital of India perfectly aligns with our decision to invest in this city. Our new emerging AI hub is a critical step in scaling up our AI engineering capabilities and advancing product development to meet the demands of our 27,000 customers worldwide,” said Gupta. The company also has offices in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Coimbatore.

Meltwater processes over 1.5 billion documents daily converting them to actionable insights.
