Technology modernisation, AI-led innovation gaining traction among clients: Wipro CEO
IT services firm Wipro announced its third quarter results for FY25 today, reporting a gross revenue of ₹223.2 billion. It is up by 0.1% sequentially and 0.5% on a yearly basis. Net profit for this period grew by 4.5% quarter on quarter (QoQ) to ₹33.5 billion.
The total deal bookings stood at $3.5 billion. Wipro closed 17 large deals with a total value of $1 billion. The company spokesperson said the momentum across the deals remains strong.
“In a seasonally weak quarter, our strong in quarter execution helped us deliver above the top end of our revenue guidance. We also achieved our highest margins in the past three years while continuing to invest in our people. We closed 17 large deals with a total value of $1 billion. We are advancing steadily and investing decisively to lead our clients in an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven future,” said CEO and MD Srini Pallia. Pallia is set to complete a year as the company head in April after Thierry Delaporte’s departure.
Looking at the broader demand situation, the current pipeline indicates that discretionary spending remains selective, and concentrated in specific industry segments, such as banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), the spokesperson said. In particular, areas such as technology modernisation and AI-driven innovation are gaining traction, with clients increasingly adopting these solutions to stay competitive and agile.
During the media question and answer round following the result announcement, Pallia laid focus on Wipro’s plans with AI, focusing especially on small language models (SLM) and Agentic AI. Pallia said that the organisation is not focusing on building LLMs or SLMs, instead, they are leveraging existing technologies by partnering with leading providers.
“We are building a series of accelerators under the program we call WeGA (Wipro Enterprise GenAI). These accelerators help clients streamline and expedite their development processes.”
He further added that Agentic AI has the potential to revolutionise processes and operations. Traditionally, AI has been focused on personal productivity, but the scope has expanded. Agentic AI could evolve to disrupt enterprise processes, from customer experience to supply chain operations, he said.
