Vodafone Idea partners with HCL Software to enhance network efficiency
Telecom company Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced a partnership with HCL Software, a division of HCL Tech, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of its 4G and 5G networks. This collaboration will see Vi leveraging the HCL Augmented Network Automation (HCL ANA) platform, a multivendor self-optimising network (MV-SON) solution, to streamline operations across its Ericsson and Samsung networks.
In a regulatory filing, Vi said that the implementation of HCL ANA is expected to significantly improve network performance, reduce energy consumption, and elevate customer service standards. The platform utilises Artificial Intelligence (AI) to simplify the management of Vi’s complex, multi-vendor, and multi-layered network, ensuring seamless integration and efficient operations.
Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone Idea, said, “This collaboration with HCL Software marks a significant advancement for Vodafone Idea. The AI-powered HCL ANA platform will enhance our network operations and deliver a superior experience to our customers. It also showcases Vi’s dedication to utilising advanced, Made-in-India technologies to improve services, cut costs, and prepare for the future of telecom innovation.”
Neeraj Purandare, Senior Vice President and General Manager of ISD Business at HCL Software, said, “Our objective is to facilitate a smooth scaling of their network, minimising disruptions. This collaboration is poised to benefit Indian telecom users and foster local technology development and innovation.”
In December 2024, Vodafone Idea reported a decline in revenue market share, which dropped to an all-time low of 14.5% in the July-September quarter. This decline was attributed to share losses across all 22 circles, according to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). In the previous quarter, the company's revenue market share stood at 15%.
