Automotive technology company Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. has partnered with NMICPS Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation Foundation at IIT Hyderabad (TiHAN-IITH). The memorandum of understanding (MOU), signed during CES 2025, aims to propel advancements in autonomous and electric mobility technologies.

The collaboration focuses on developing Connected, Autonomous, and Electric technologies for Autonomous Ground Vehicles (AGVs), drones, and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The partnership is set to combine TiHAN-IITH's expertise in autonomous navigation with Sona Comstar’s industrial capabilities and innovation in mobility technology.

India’s mobility sector is poised for a transformative shift, with significant potential in autonomous personal transportation, drones, eVTOLs, and AGVs. The success of these technologies hinges on mastering the entire software value chain—a feat requiring proven domain expertise and robust industrialisation capabilities.

Commenting on the partnership, Vivek Vikram Singh, Managing Director and Group CEO of Sona Comstar, said: “The partnership aligns with our vision statement as we expand into the broader mobility sector and is consistent with our view that the future of mobility will be EPIC.”

With TiHAN-IITH’s innovations in autonomous navigation and Sona Comstar’s manufacturing and mobility technology solutions, the partnership is expected to drive innovation and accelerate the adoption of autonomous and electric mobility solutions.
