TCS partners with The ePlane Company to build electric aviation solutions
Tata Consulting Services (TCS) has entered into a partnership with flying electric taxi and urban air mobility solutions provider The ePlane Company. The partnership is expected to create sustainable and scalable electric aviation solutions for passenger and cargo transport.
The ePlane Company’s innovations in compact eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft and TCS’ Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, and Internet of Things (IoT) expertise to build these solutions. These solutions will address pressing urban challenges, such as congestion, inefficiency, and environmental sustainability.
The partnership also emphasises sustainability and scalability by developing a “Keiretsu-like” supplier-buyer framework and integrating renewable energy sources. Keiretsu is a Japanese term that refers to a business network made up of different companies, including manufacturers, supply chain partners, distributors, and in some cases financiers. These efforts aim to ensure the long-term sustainability of the electric aviation ecosystem while enhancing its operational efficiency and reach, the statement said.
“This collaboration with TCS aligns perfectly with our mission to redefine urban transportation by creating efficient and sustainable electric air mobility solutions. By leveraging TCS’ expertise, we can scale our operations, enhance our technological capabilities, and bring the future of air mobility closer to reality,” said Vishnu Ramakrishnan, Founders office (Business), The ePlane Company.
Additionally, the deal outlines strategic initiatives, including the co-development of tailored solutions for TCS customers, product demonstrations, participation in innovation-focused events such as TCS PacePorts, and building proof-of-concept projects.
To be sure, The ePlane Company is an IIT Madras incubated company founded in 2019. The Chennai-headquartered firm that operates in the eVTOL, secured $14 million in funding last year in November. eVTOLs are like air taxis which are designed to carry two to six persons and cargo.
