Altair partners with CAAR for developing mobility solutions
Computational intelligence firm Altair has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Centre of Excellence in Advanced Automotive Research (CAAR) at IIT Madras. Under this collaboration, the two entities will develop solutions to advance e-mobility, autonomous systems, and sustainable vehicles while reducing product development timelines.
CAAR was established under the guidance and support of IIT Madras. CAAR provides technologies and facilities to the automotive industry, advises on policy, and develops human capital. With a focus on translational research, CAAR bridges the gap between academic innovation and industrial implementation.
“Our collaboration with CAAR and IIT Madras is poised to drive innovation in the automotive sector,” said Vishwanath Rao, country manager, Altair India. “This MoU underscores Altair’s commitment to delivering technologies that enable automotive sustainability, efficiency, and progress.”
“This partnership will also help further develop Altair’s software tools for use in the rapid development of high-value automotive products,” said Thiru Srinivasan, CEO, CAAR.
In related but separate news, technology firm Siemens announced in October 2024 that it will be acquiring Altair in a deal valued at $10.6 billion. The deal aims to bring together Altair’s portfolio in simulation, data science, and HPC with Siemens’ strong position in mechanical and EDA design. The addition of Altair’s capabilities in simulation, high-performance computing, data science, and artificial intelligence together with Siemens Xcelerator will create the world's most complete Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered design and simulation portfolio, a company representative said.
