Refroid Technologies, a provider of advanced cooling solutions for data centers, has introduced its locally developed single-phase Liquid Immersion Cooling Solutions, designed to address the growing demand for energy-efficient cooling in data centers.

This new solution aims to improve cooling efficiency as data centers face rising energy demands due to the increasing use of AI and high-performance computing. As processors now require over 1,000 watts of energy, traditional air-cooling systems are becoming insufficient. The industry's average Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is around 1.65, with cooling accounting for up to 35% of energy use in data centers. The company promises to lower PUE to as low as 1.05, offering significant energy savings and a reduction in carbon emissions by up to 40%, it said.

The company further claims that using Liquid Immersion Cooling could save enough electricity to power two million households for a year for every additional gigawatt of data center capacity. It could also reduce water usage, benefiting up to 300,000 people annually.

Refroid’s cooling systems are entirely manufactured in India, showcasing the country’s technological capabilities. These solutions are tailored to meet the demands of modern data centers, improving both energy efficiency and sustainability, the company said.

"Our solutions not only reflect India's technological prowess and dedication to self-reliance but also offer a sustainable pathway for the global data center industry," said Satya Bhavaraju, CEO of Refroid. "We are building robust supply chain partnerships and fostering an ecosystem that democratises access to these transformative cooling technologies."
