Media and entertainment company Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has appointed Anish Agarwal as the vice president for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automation center of excellence. He will be leading the development and implementation of AI strategies at the firm, while seamlessly integrating it into the company’s products and services.

According to Agarwal’s Linkedin update, the role includes a direct oversight of several key directorial positions, including the director of AI orchestration, automation, and data science, the director of AI and automation experience design, and the director of AI solution design and architecture

“As I transition into this new role, I am looking forward to leveraging my extensive experience in AI and automation to drive meaningful impact at Warner Bros. Discovery. I am excited about the potential to collaborate with an incredibly talented team, tackle industry-defining challenges, and contribute to the continuous growth and success of the organisation,” Agarwal said in a post.

In the past, Agarwal has worked Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Natwest Group, Clifford Chance, and Vertex Data Science, among others. He said that as the global head of data and analytics at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, his last held post, he gained valued insights in leadership and innovation.

WBD opened its innovation center in Hyderabad earlier this year. “The Hyderabad capability center officially launched this year with 75 employees, though its groundwork was laid last year. Many of our internal company operations, such as IT help desks and collaboration tools, are now heavily supported by the Hyderabad team,” chief technology officer Avi Saxena told TechCircle in an earlier interview.

In India, technology and innovation teams are spread in three locations — Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. According to Saxena, talent acquisition has been one of the major reasons to expand in India. Saxena also said that he expects the tech team in India to 1,000 by end of the year.
