Indian cloud storage service provider DigiBoxx on Friday said that it will be integrating Backup Exec, a cloud backup and recovery solution developed by data management firm Arctera, on its Megh3 platform for Indian enterprises.

In other words, Backup Exec will now be available on DigiBoxx's Megh3, which is billed as the first indigenous, fully managed elastic cloud storage solution service that offers its customers access to storage at affordable rates.

“Megh3 has played a crucial role in facilitating organisational transformation through its cost-effective, dependable, and scalable solutions. With Arctera Backup Exec, businesses can leverage a cloud-based backup service that alleviates the burden of investing in hardware and hiring IT personnel for management,” said Arnab Mitra.

“Our servers and data centres are located in India, ensuring that customers can trust their digital assets and intellectual property are securely stored within the country,” Mitra added.

The company said in a statement, “It keeps things simple by allowing customers to choose the what, when and where of backup, while focusing on data security with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), integrated 128-/256-bit AES industrial-strength encryption and built-in protection against malware, ransomware and other anomalies that may compromise data”.

Earlier this week, Arctera finalised its separation from Veritas Technologies to create a new independent company formed around its data compliance, InfoScale and BackupExec businesses. The new company will help organizations thrive by delivering market-leading solutions that enable them to trust, access and illuminate their critical data.

That said, the California-based company will operate as three distinct product business units, each tailored to solve the most demanding data challenges for their customers. 70% of the Fortune 100 customers around the world use Arctera for their data compliance, data availability and data protection needs, the company said in a statement.

Speaking about the latest initiative with DigiBoxx, Simon Jelley, general manager and vice president, of data protection, at Arctera said that apart from storage, the next major need for any data-driven company is backup. “A solution that makes a copy of your hard work and intellectual property, secures it, and lets you retrieve it when required. Backup Exec brings this and much more to the table — and will now also be available on DigiBoxx Megh3, a cloud storage solution for businesses of all sizes,” he summed up.
