"Growing up in India as a 90’s kid, I’ve always been fascinated by computers and more importantly software," recollected Rahul, reflecting on his early years. His passion for software and computing ignited during his formative years, where computer education classes and programming sessions served as gateways to a world of endless possibilities. It was this fascination that led him to dive deeper into the realm of machine learning, where the ability to write intelligent software and anticipate user intentions felt nothing short of magical.

Rahul's journey into the world of machine learning took a significant leap during his undergraduate years, where he encountered a demonstration of handwritten digit recognition software. Witnessing the software seamlessly recognize handwritten digits left an indelible impression, sparking his determination to delve deeper into the field.

Upon completing his undergraduate studies, Rahul embarked on a journey of higher education and research, landing a position as a research assistant at West Virginia University (WVU) in 2010. It was here that he honed his skills in developing intelligent software for surveillance using C++ and OpenCV, an open-source image processing and machine learning library. His quest for knowledge led him to explore online courses and platforms like Coursera, where he mastered algorithms like Logistic Regression and Neural Networks, subsequently contributing to projects like OpenCV.

The pursuit of knowledge and innovation led Rahul to diverse avenues, including mobile robotics and planetary rover design classes. His involvement in these projects culminated in significant achievements, such as winning the 2015 NASA SRR Robotics Championship. Armed with a PhD in Computer Science specializing in computer vision and machine learning, his contributions extended beyond academia, as he became a respected book reviewer and scientific journal reviewer.

Further ahead, Rahul's expertise caught the attention of KLA Corp, where he assumed the role of a Research Scientist. Here, he led the development of revolutionary algorithms based on deep learning to enhance defect inspection systems for semiconductor assembly line microscopes. His innovations played a crucial role in bolstering the global supply chain of electronics, particularly during the chip shortage exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, Rahul embarked on a new chapter in his career, joining ServiceNow as a Data/Applied Research Scientist in Seattle. Here, he focused on leveraging machine learning for Natural Language Processing (NLP), contributing to advancements in anomaly detection and customer issue routing on the ServiceNow platform. His current endeavors center on ensuring the safety and integrity of AI models, particularly in mitigating biases and promoting fairness in language generation applications.
