Wipro appoints Omkar Nisal as CEO of Europe SMU, Bruno steps down from the role
Indian IT services and consulting major Wipro announced on Monday the appointment of Omkar Nisal as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the Europe Strategic Market Unit (SMU). Nisal will report to Wipro CEO and Managing Director, Srini Pallia, and join the Executive Board. He succeeds Pierre Bruno, who is stepping down from the position, the company said in an exchange filing.
“Nisal’s strategic vision, combined with a strong understanding of the European market dynamics, positions him well to lead our ambitious plans for growth and expansion,” said Pallia.
Nisal will continue to be based in London. “I look forward to collaborating with the incredible teams across Europe. Together, we will unlock new opportunities, strengthen our market position, and deliver outstanding results for our stakeholders,” he added.
Nisal, who has been with Wipro since 2012, is known for his leadership in driving digital transformation for clients, particularly in the banking sector across EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa). His most recent role was Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, where he oversaw a regional P&L exceeding a billion dollars.
Bruno joined Wipro in 2021 from DXC Technology where he was Vice President and Managing Director of Southern Europe, responsible for all lines of business, including consulting, integration, apps, cloud and cyber security. Bruno also worked with Dell for 14 years in several roles across Asia Pacific, Japan, and EMEA.
“I would like to thank Bruno for his leadership over the last four years, during which we made significant inroads into the European market. He will continue through the coming months, working closely with Omkar and me to ensure a smooth transition,” said Pallia.
