Analytics firm Qlik has announced a new cloud region in Mumbai. This investment will enhance Qlik’s global cloud infrastructure and meet the growing demand for local data storage, regulatory compliance, and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

The new cloud region will ensure clients’ compliance to local data sovereignty requirements while utilising its AI-based enterprise data and analytics solutions. By storing and processing data within Indian shores, customers will be able to deliver better business outcomes. This expansion will enable businesses across various sectors, including finance, banking, automotive, public sector, and healthcare, to leverage advanced analytics and AI capabilities for improved decision-making. Further, customers will get access to localised support with solutions to their specific business need.

“As the regulatory landscape evolves, businesses increasingly demand advanced, AI-driven cloud solutions that ensure compliance with local data localization requirements. By establishing our cloud infrastructure, we are committed to helping organisations optimise data management, enhance data security, and reduce the complexities and costs associated with cross-border data transfers. Our local cloud services empower businesses to propel innovation, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to India’s digital economy,” said Varun Babbar, Managing Director - India & SAARC, Qlik.

The company also said that this cloud region will support its ambition to double market share in India by 2026 by enabling scalability and innovation within the local business ecosystem.

In response to the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, enacted in August 2023, and other data localisation mandates, many global companies are now offering their customers the option to store and process data locally, ensuring compliance with regional regulations.

Like Qlik, in October, networking company Juniper Networks launched a local cloud instance in India. Juniper’s local cloud instance supports wireless and wired access, indoor location services, and SD-WAN solutions. All these solutions are driven by the company’s enterprise AI platform Mist AI.
