Suzuki, Tata Elxsi launch new offshore development center in Pune to drive sustainable mobility
Suzuki Motor Corporation, a Japanese multinational mobility manufacturer, and Tata Elxsi, a technology and design services provider, have jointly inaugurated the Suzuki-Tata Elxsi Offshore Development Center’ in Pune. This initiative aims to support Suzuki’s sustainable mobility ambitions, with Tata Elxsi providing expertise to advance Suzuki’s efforts in lightweight design, safety, eco-friendly materials, and enhanced engineering.
The collaboration will focus on next-generation powertrain technologies and software-defined vehicle development, aligning with Suzuki's goals for greener mobility solutions in electric, hybrid, and alternative fuel-powered vehicles. Through advanced simulations and digital design, the center will help improve Suzuki’s time-to-market for new innovations.
Suzuki's Chief Technology Officer, Katsuhiro Kato, highlighted the importance of transitioning to connected, autonomous, shared, and electric vehicle technologies. He emphasized the value Tata Elxsi brings in supporting Suzuki’s push for minimized energy use and global sustainability.
Manoj Raghavan, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Elxsi, said that Tata Elxsi’s design-focused, digital approach aligns well with Suzuki’s sustainability goals, promising advancements in automotive engineering with an emphasis on precision and responsibility.
This collaboration follows Tata Elxsi's recent initiatives, including the opening of the xG-Force 5G Applications Lab in Bengaluru, which aims to drive digital innovation across sectors like transportation, healthcare, and Industry 4.0. The lab is set up to accelerate 5G applications in critical areas such as connected vehicles, smart factories, and digital health, with a focus on enhancing safety and data security.
