Sify partners with Cisco for enterprise digital transformation
Sify Technologies Limited, one of India’s largest private network and data centre providers, announced a partnership with networking major Cisco ThousandEyes on Tuesday to enhance the digital experience for enterprises.
The collaboration combines Sify's expertise in managed services and data centre solutions with Cisco's advanced networking capabilities. Sify’s Managed Network Services offer tools and expertise in infrastructure, networking, and automation, enabling businesses to develop modern network strategies, connect to cloud services, and simplify network management. Cisco ThousandEyes provides tools for organisations to detect, diagnose, and optimise connected experiences in any digital environment.
The company stated in a press release that the integration provides enhanced visibility through detailed insights into application performance and user experience by monitoring network paths, internet routing, and SaaS application performance.
Pranesh Babu, Global Practice Head of Network Digital Services at Sify, said, “This collaboration drives network observability for customers, enabling them to swiftly identify and address network outages, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and improving business outcomes.”
Ashok Shivashankar, Director of Sales at Cisco India and SAARC added that the partnership aims to foster digital transformation for enterprises, allowing them to optimise their network performance and ensure smooth operations.
Sify plans to invest ₹9,000 crores over six years to expand its data centre presence, with ₹3,000 crore allocated for Chennai, Mumbai, Noida, and Bengaluru. The company announced that the Rabale data centre in Mumbai will increase its capacity by 38 MW and will add two new facilities, each starting at 86 MW. An additional 100 MW will be invested in the next phase starting in 2025, followed by a final ₹3,000 crore investment after 2026.
In September, Sify Technologies partnered with NVIDIA as a colocation partner in the NVIDIA DGX-Ready Data Center program, certified for liquid cooling and capable of 130 KW per rack. With this integration, Sify's clients can access high-density supercomputing and robust performance through scalable AI infrastructure solutions within a comprehensive colocation network.
In October, Sify enhanced its National Long Distance (NLD) network by implementing optical technology from the US-based networking company Ciena. This upgraded network will be crucial for interlinking Sify’s seven Metro Area Networks across India, while also boosting the network's capacity to 600G. The improved infrastructure is designed to support the increasing needs of businesses, global cloud providers, and digital enterprises operating in India, according to the company.
