Syrma SGS inaugurates manufacturing facility in Pune; expects to generate 1,000 jobs
Electronics system design and manufacturing company Syrma SGS Technology inaugurated an integrated electronics manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon near Pune. This facility is touted to be one of its largest kind spread across 26.5 acres of land with a manufacturing area of 1.20 million square feet at its peak.
The Pune facility will strengthen the company’s PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assembly capabilities and will primarily serve the growing domestic demand for PCBAs, especially in the automotive and industrial sectors. The first phase of the facility spanning over 60,000 square feet was commissioned today and it is expected to create approximately 1,000 direct employments. This new unit is Syrma SGS’ first multi-facility campus with the capability to serve customers in multiple sectors and at a global scale.
“Our focus remains on strengthening our capabilities and expanding capacities to meet the evolving market demands. With the ‘Make in India’ initiative gaining momentum, the launch of our Pune facility positions us perfectly to capitalise on the vast business opportunities ahead,” said J S Gujral, Managing Director, Syrma SGS.
To be sure, Syrma SGS offers product design, rapid prototyping, PCB assembly, box builds, and customised end-to-end solutions such as RFID tags, high-frequency magnetic components, repair, rework, and automatic tester development services.
In a bid to encourage local manufacturing of electronic devices and components, the Indian government has rolled out several policies including a production-linked incentive scheme. Domestic electronic manufacturing service suppliers like Amber and Dixon Technologies are some of the leading names in this sector. Overall, India’s electronic manufacturing industry is likely to grow at 27% CAGR over FY23-FY27 to reach $100 billion in total revenue, reports suggest.
