Chetan Bhat joins EnerMech as global chief information officer
Global engineering and offshore services company EnerMech announced on Tuesday the appointment of Chetan Bhat as Global Chief Information Officer (CIO). This newly created role aims to drive the company’s Business Systems and Digital strategy across the enterprise. Chetan will focus on optimizing operations and enhancing customer experience through innovative technology solutions.
EnerMech provides specialist integrated mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and integrity solutions to the global energy and infrastructure sectors. Based in Aberdeen Scotland, the company has a strong presence in India and the Asia Pacific region, including Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and China. (with its other global markets being in the UK, Norway, Africa, the Americas, Australasia, the Caspian region and the Middle East). Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group acquired the company in 2018.
EnerMech first established a presence in India in 2012, setting up a regional office in Mumbai. It invested in and evolved its facilities, assets, and resources to create a progressive high-value centre utilized across the global business.
Chetan a former CIO with over 20 years of experience has worked for organizations in the energy, technology, and manufacturing sectors. Most recently, he created and implemented a multi-year comprehensive IT strategy roadmap for oil and gas operator Maverick Natural Resources, improving their governance process for technology investments. This included advising the executive leadership team on company-wide IT needs, risks, and expenditures. He has previously held senior IT leadership roles at Roper Technologies (ESCG) and various GE companies, including Oil and Gas, Security, Commercial Finance, and Aero Energy.
Chetan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Bombay University, serves as a current board member of the Society of Information Management (SIM)-Houston, and is an active member of the CIO Leadership Network and Project Management Institute.
In his new role at EnerMech, Chetan will report directly to EnerMech’s Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) Jose Xavier. His responsibilities will include overseeing IT governance, security, and risk management, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing IT best practices across the organization. Chetan will also lead digital transformation initiatives, manage the IT budget, and oversee IT vendor relationships, aligning with EnerMech’s long-term goals.
Chetan succeeds John Clark, who served as interim IT Director and has been with EnerMech for 13 years. Clark will continue to support the company’s strategic initiatives in his new role as Transformation Director.
