Tata Technologies, BMW Group launch JV for automotive software in India
Tata Technologies, a global engineering and digital services company, has partnered with BMW Group to launch a joint venture called BMW TechWorks India. This new venture, split equally between the two companies, will focus on developing automotive software and business IT solutions. Initially, the joint venture will operate with 100 employees across key technology hubs in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
The primary goal of BMW TechWorks India is to scale its workforce, targeting a four-digit employee count by the end of 2025. The joint venture is particularly focused on attracting India’s top engineering talent to work on advanced software projects that support BMW’s next-generation vehicles and improve digital customer experiences, an official statement read.
In addition to automotive software, the joint venture will provide digital solutions for BMW’s broader business IT needs. This includes supporting the digital transformation of BMW’s global production network, enhancing customer sales processes, and developing AI applications that aim to improve the efficiency of the company’s core business functions.
Christoph Grote, Senior Vice President of Electronics and Software at BMW Group, said: “BMW TechWorks India is a significant addition to our global vehicle software development initiatives. With agile processes and enhanced tools, Indian engineers at BMW TechWorks India will co-create innovative automotive digital experiences, such as automated driving and next-gen infotainment systems.”
