Infosys to set up tech hub in Bengaluru for Swedish EV maker Polestar
Indian IT giant Infosys has entered into a partnership with the Swedish electric performance car manufacturer Polestar to create a foundation for the latter's development of in-car infotainment systems, software, electrical and electronics engineering, user experience, and cloud-based digital services.
According to a regulatory filing, Infosys will set up a global technology and innovation hub for Polestar at its development centre in Bengaluru.
This hub is designed to facilitate the development and validation of electric vehicle (EV) software across various domains, including infotainment, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and telematics. Furthermore, it will enhance Polestar's product management, customer engagement, and corporate solutions, thereby, accelerating the delivery of direct-to-consumer digital services through cloud-native development, testing, and data engineering.
Infosys also said that it will utilise the capabilities of in-tech, its recent acquisition specialising in engineering R&D services, to enhance this collaboration.
Sven Bauer, Head of Software at Polestar, said, "Polestar is embarking on a new phase in its global operations with our partner Infosys in Bengaluru. We are eager to develop automotive expertise within the Polestar Tech Hub to support our expanding vehicle lineup and upcoming model launches."
Last week, Infosys announced an extension of its collaboration with Posti, a leading delivery and logistics services provider in Finland, Sweden, and the Baltics. The renewed engagement will see Infosys leverage its artificial intelligence (AI)-driven approach, powered by its generative AI offering, Infosys Topaz, to enhance Posti’s customer experience and operational efficiency.
Infosys already has a strong foothold in the Nordic region, employing over 2,500 individuals in the region. Not just Infosys, several leading Indian IT companies, such as TCS, HCLTech, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra, are also significantly enhancing their operations in the region.
The IT services market in the Nordic countries has experienced growth, rising from $24.4 billion in 2018 to $29.5 billion in 2023.
Analysts attribute the rise in demand from Nordic clients to several factors, including competitive pricing, the ability to act as long-term strategic partners in digital transformation, and the superior quality of technological services provided by Indian IT service providers.
