India's largest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a two-year partnership with McDonald's Philippines to enhance the technology utilized by the fast-food chain. The financial details of the agreement were not revealed.

McDonald’s is one of the world’s largest food service retailers with more than 42,000 locations in over 100 countries. TCS formalized the partnership with the Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC), led by George Yang, which holds the master franchise for McDonald's in the Philippines.

This collaboration marks TCS's inaugural engagement with the fast-food giant in the Asia Pacific region and aims to "standardise" and "digitise" the IT operations across more than 760 McDonald's outlets in the country. TCS will facilitate a significant upgrade of McDonald’s IT systems in the Philippines by transitioning to Cloud technology. This upgrade will enhance GADC's IT infrastructure, leading to "better insights, improved decision-making, and optimized operational performance," TCS said in a statement.

Margot Torres, managing director at GADC, said, “This partnership with TCS is another step in our continuous digital transformation. The implementation of SAP S/4HANA on RISE will provide us greater agility through data-driven insights, enabling us to continuously improve our customer and employee experience,” referring to a Cloud computing system.

The advantages of this upgrade encompass increased efficiency and reduced operating costs, digital transformation and innovation, an enhanced franchisee experience fostering stakeholder loyalty, and improved process optimization and workforce productivity.

Through the SAP Business Technology Platform, TCS will offer development and integration services for application development, automation, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. TCS will also incorporate additional SAP capabilities to ensure comprehensive data management and automation solutions tailored to GADC’s requirements, thereby enhancing the fast-food chain’s financial, materials, enterprise asset and project management, sales and distribution, and user interface.

TCS said the partnership marks its growing presence in the Philippines, where it has been since 2008. The company has more than 5,000 employees in the country and supports customers in telecom, banking and finance, real estate, and airlines.

In August, TCS launched its Pace Studio in Manila, Philippines, to promote digital innovation in the Asia-Pacific region. This facility focuses on developing customised digital solutions with clients using advanced technologies like AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
The Manila studio is the fifth in a global network of innovation centres, joining locations in Riyadh, Sydney, Letter Kenny, and Stockholm. TCS also operates Pace Ports in major cities such as Tokyo, Amsterdam, New York, Pittsburgh, Toronto, London, and Paris.
