IT services provider Wipro has partnered with JFK International Air Terminal (JFKIAT), the operator of JFK Airport’s Terminal 4, to create a cloud-based data strategy using Microsoft’s Azure Data Platform. This artificial intelligence (AI)-powered data analytics solution will centralise terminal data across all functions, allowing JFKIAT to continually optimise its operations and achieve long-term efficiency goals.

The three-year initiative, which began in 2023, aims to streamline terminal operations by improving passenger queuing times, implementing intelligent rostering for staff, consolidating safety and security data, and tracking sustainability metrics. In the project's first year, Wipro successfully established a centralized data foundation and enhanced business intelligence capabilities across JFKIAT’s operations, finance, and safety departments. The next phase will focus on use cases related to customer experience, non-aviation revenue, and connected planning.

Deepak Parameswaran, Vice President & Sector Head for Energy, Manufacturing & Resources at Wipro, said, “Leveraging our expertise in airport operations and digital transformation, Wipro is deploying AI and data analytics to optimize operational efficiencies and create new revenue streams. This will support JFKIAT’s ambition to become a data-driven organization.”

Steve Tukavkin, Vice President of IT and Digital at JFKIAT, said, “This new solution will centralise our critical data into a new data lake, breaking down information silos and improving insights for better decision-making. We’re proud to collaborate with Wipro as we transform Terminal 4 into a world-class facility.”

Last month, Wipro an expanded partnership with the John Lewis Partnership (JLP) to modernise the UK retailer’s IT infrastructure. This strategic initiative aims to strengthen JLP’s market leadership while driving sustainable growth for the future.

As part of the four-year project, Wipro’s FullStride Cloud team will collaborate with JLP and Google Cloud to upgrade the retailer’s cloud infrastructure, network, and end-user services. The focus will be on transitioning JLP’s X86 platform to the cloud, enhancing agility, optimising operational costs, and streamlining business processes.
