There have been multiple developments this week on the tech front. From Yotta’s supercomputer to launch of blockchain tech stack, this is the list of the most important developments for a quick catch-up:
Blockchain tech stack
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched a blockchain technology stack. Called Vishvasya, this stack will offer blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) will support various blockchain applications through geographically distributed infrastructure at NIC Data centers in Bhubaneswar, Pune, and Hyderabad.
The National Blockchain Framework technology stack is built with Distributed Infrastructure, Core Framework functionality, Smart Contracts & API Gateway, Security, Privacy & Interoperability and Applications development offering BaaS. NBF currently supports two Blockchain platforms and is extensible, the press statement said.
Kaynes’ semicon facility gets Cabinet nod
The Union Cabinet approved Kaynes Semiconductor’s plans to set up an assembly, testing, marking, and packaging (ATMP) unit in Sanand, Gujarat with an investment of ₹3,300 crore. The ATMP in Sanand is the fourth semiconductor facility to receive approval from the government under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
The capacity of this unit will be 60 lakh chips per day. These chips will cater to a wide variety of applications in industrial, automotive, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, telecom, mobile phones, etc. The project will cover an area of 46 acres. Notably, in August, the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider had bought land with an investment of about ₹5,000 crore, several media reports said.
Adani’s $10 bn semicon facility in Maha
Adani Group’s foray into semiconductor fabrication with Israel-based Tower Semiconductor has received the Maharashtra government’s nod. On Friday, the Maharashtra Cabinet approved a semiconductor fabrication unit to be established by the two firms in Panvel, Mumbai with an investment of $10 billion.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis posted on social media website X that the unit will be built in two phases. The first phase will see an investment of about $7 billion and produce 40,000 semiconductor wafers monthly. For the second phase, the investment will be $3 billion, taking the total output to 80,000 wafers per month. The unit is expected to generate more than 5,000 jobs.
Docusign’s tech CoE
American software company, Docusign which offers businesses solutions to manage electronic signatures on different devices, today announced the opening of its new technology Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, marking an expansion of its operations in India.
The Docusign India office will serve as a technology innovation hub for the company's global operations, advancing its vision to help businesses unlock growth and revolutionise the entire agreement management process.
Yotta to launch supercomputer in Telangana
Hiranandani-led digital transformation service provider Yotta Data Services has announced a partnership with the Government of Telangana to establish a high-performance GPU-based AI Supercomputer within a purpose-built high-density liquid-cooled Data Centre campus in Hyderabad’s AI City, the company said on Thursday.
The first phase of the Supercomputer consisting of 4,000 high-performance GPUs and the first Data Centre within the campus, Yotta H1 will be operational within the next 24 months. Once fully built, the AI Supercomputer will be powered by 25,000 GPUs, a statement from Yotta said.
