Professional services company Accenture has appointed Arundhati Chakraborty as the group chief executive of Accenture Operations beginning September 1, the company said on Friday.

With almost 30 years of experience in the technology sector, including more than ten years at Accenture, Chakraborty's proficiency in analytics, artificial intelligence, and automation is anticipated to enhance growth within the company's $10 billion Operations sector.

Chakraborty's appointment also comes alongside Yusuf Tayob's new role as the global chair of Communications, Media & Technology industry practices at Accenture. Tayob, who brings 20 years of industry experience, is moving from his previous position as group chief executive of Operations. His career includes leadership roles in the North American consulting practice and the Salesforce business group within Accenture Technology.

Julie Sweet, chair and CEO of Accenture, commended both Chakraborty and Tayob for their extensive expertise and leadership capabilities. She said that Chakraborty's focus on talent development and innovative services, particularly in generative AI and automation, positions her effectively to lead the Operations division. Likewise, she mentioned Tayob's industry knowledge and dedication to innovation as essential for guiding Accenture's key industry practices.

Both Chakraborty and Tayob will continue to serve on the Accenture Global Management Committee following their new roles. This announcement is part of Accenture's comprehensive strategy to harness technology and innovation to provide value to its clients. With a global workforce of 750,000, the company said it aims to lead in driving digital transformation and change through its wide array of services and solutions.

To be sure, Accenture has made significant advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity through a strategic partnership with Google Cloud in recent months. The firm has also obtained a $75 million contract from the United States Patent and Trademark Office to incorporate AI into patent examination procedures.

Accenture has announced that it registered new books of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) projects worth $900 million in its third-quarter financial results declared in June. This takes the fiscal year-to-date with $2 billion in Generative AI sales. The company's financial performance has overall been strong, with Q3 revenue reaching $16.5 billion, reflecting a 1.4% increase in local currency.

Moreover, Accenture's latest acquisitions include Camelot Management Consultants, a German firm that specializes in SAP-focused management and technology consulting, as well as Logic, a provider of retail technology services. These acquisitions are intended to boost Accenture's SAP and AI-driven supply chain solutions, along with its retail technology capabilities. Analysts believe the recent developments including the hiring of senior executives can mark significant milestones in Accenture's continuous journey of growth and innovation.
