TCS expands partnership with fashion retailer Primark for IT transformation
IT services provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has expanded its partnership with Primark, a fashion retailer operating across 17 countries in Europe and the US, to transform Primark's technology operations to support its ambitious global growth strategy.
Since partnering in 2016, TCS has driven Primark’s critical business integration programs, enhanced cybersecurity, and stabilised core platforms. The extended partnership will see TCS further transform Primark's technology landscape, making it more resilient, reliable, and efficient to meet the fast-paced demands of the fashion industry.
As part of this initiative, TCS will streamline Primark’s technology operating environment, significantly reducing time-to-market and aligning with Primark's growth strategies. The partnership will adopt an agile and product-based operating model, leveraging intelligent automation and DevOps technologies to optimise application development, testing, and maintenance processes.
Andrew Brothers, Chief Information Officer at Primark, said, "We’re enhancing our partnership with TCS to build a robust, resilient, and reliable IT environment. This transformation will enable us to become a more efficient, technology-led global organisation.”
TCS’ support will ensure we maintain operational stability, allowing us to respond swiftly to market trends and customer preferences, and continue to deliver quality products at the best value for our customers, he added.
The new operating model will align closely with Primark's business functions and priorities, offering a comprehensive real-time view of technology, business systems, and processes. This alignment will enhance overall performance and support the agile ecosystem necessary for Primark’s rapid expansion.
Shekar Krishnan, Vice President & Head of Retail for the UK and Europe at TCS, said, "The fashion industry is constantly evolving its value chain — from conceptualisation to retailing — with innovation-driven initiatives aimed at achieving environmental, social, and governance goals."
TCS, which has been operational in the UK market for nearly 50 years, works with 200 well-known businesses, including British Airways, Sainsbury’s, and M&S. With a workforce of 23,000 in the UK and Ireland, TCS holds a leadership position in the software and IT services market in the region, consistently ranked as the top IT service provider for customer satisfaction.
The expansion of TCS’s partnership with Primark follows several other significant collaborations this year, including agreements with Follett Higher Education in North America and Xerox, focusing on IT infrastructure enhancement and digital transformation through cloud computing and generative AI technologies. These initiatives underscore TCS' commitment to driving innovation and efficiency for global enterprises.
