Reliance makes series of AI announcements for customers, enterprises

At Reliance Industries' annual general meeting on Thursday, the company made a slew of artificial intelligence-related announcements. The main highlights were Jio Brain, Jio AI-Cloud, and a national AI infrastructure, among others. 

Speaking at Reliance’s 47th AGM, Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced the launch of Jio Brain – a suite of tools and platforms that span the entire AI lifecycle. Ambani added that the platform will help the company accelerate AI adoption across Jio. Jio Brain is also being used across other Reliance operating companies to drive similar transformation, Ambani said. "I anticipate that by perfecting Jio Brain within Reliance, we will create a powerful AI service platform that we can offer to other enterprises as well."

To be sure, the telecommunication company introduced Jio Brain at the beginning of the year. At the time, a company spokesperson said Jio Brain integrates machine learning capabilities in the telco network, enterprise network, or any industry-specific IT environment, without undergoing network or IT transformation. Jio Brain comes with over 500 REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and data APIs for creating machine learning-enabled services. It also offers advanced AI features for images, videos, text, documents, speech, and built-in AI algorithms "as a service".

At the AGM, the company announced that it will be setting up gigawatt-scale AI data centers in Jamnagar in Gujarat. These data centers will be powered by green energy. "We also plan to create multiple AI inference facilities across our captive locations throughout the country, which we will scale up to support the growing demand," Ambani said.

Lastly, the company has integrated generative AI into its operations for smarter and more responsive services to internal users and customers, Ambani said.
