L&T Technology Services (LTTS) will establish a digital twin center of excellence (CoE) jointly with computational intelligence firm Altair. The CoE will deliver digital twin capabilities to customers working across sectors such as mobility, hi-tech, and sustainability segments.

The CoE would be offering artificial intelligence-powered engineering for products, systems, and processes; innovation labs for simulating new use cases; predictive maintenance; rapid product development to reduce cycle time for physical prototyping; hands-on training.

“Our advanced approach combined with LTTS’ expertise will help teams better design, build, test, optimise, evaluate what-if scenarios, perform predictive maintenance, and extend the remaining useful life (RUL) of their products without physical prototypes,” said Stephanie Buckner, chief operating officer, Altair.

LTTS’ cross-domain engineering expertise will be combined with Altair’s simulation and data analysis capabilities. Notably, LTTS has already utilised Altair’s total digital twin portfolio which covers solutions like design and simulation platform HyperWorks and data analytics platform RapidMiner. These have been used for use cases like automotive and electric systems, heart attack and stroke risk prediction, and wind power forecasting, among others.

Earlier this year, LTTS established another digital twin-based partnership. The company partnered with mobility technology supplier Marelli to revamp its infotainment and information cluster design based on digital twin technology. Marelli was able to streamline automotive software development processes, thereby reducing prototype costs.

LTTS announced its results for the first quarter reporting a revenue of  ₹24,619 million, a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 7%. Net profit grew marginally by less than a percent YoY to ₹3,136 million.
