UK's NatWest Group opens new technology solutions & development center in India
UK–based relationship bank NatWest Group has expanded its presence in Bengaluru with a new office. This center will serve as a hub for technology solutions and developments, the company said.
The new site follows the firm’s announcement last year of recruiting 3,000 software engineers in the country by 2026. The seating capacity in the new office will be three times that of the current office, with the opportunity to increase this further. The state-of-the-art facility spans over 370,000 square feet over 11 floors.
“Bengaluru is known for its vibrant technology sector and skilled talent pool, so this new office marks a significant chapter in our growth journey across India. Strengthening our global operations further positions us at the forefront of innovation as we continue to prioritise improving the customer and colleague experience,” said Scott Marcar, Group Chief Information Officer, NatWest Group. Apart from Bengaluru, NatWest has offices in Gurugram and Chennai.
As per the company, the expansion will strengthen its presence in the country, which also houses its second largest employee base outside of UK. Speaking at a conference in Chennai last year, Marcar said that India is critical for the company’s global operations; the global capability centres in the country drive the digital transformation of the organisation, helping its customers to have easy access to banking services.
As per a report by CBRE and Zyoin this week, the top six cities in India – Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai – are expected to account for majority of GCC growth. The GCC leasing activity increased by 8% YoY in these six locations between January and June 2024.
