Capgemini, SAP team up to enhance business processes with GenAI
IT services provider Capgemini has partnered with enterprise software development company SAP to assist organisations in addressing business-critical challenges by integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI) into key processes like HR, sales, procurement, and sustainability.
This collaboration combines Capgemini’s leadership in data and AI, its experience in executing large-scale SAP transformations, and its advanced generative AI solutions with SAP’s Business AI portfolio, built on the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). This partnership aims to enhance the most complex business processes for clients.
As part of the extended collaboration, Capgemini is enhancing its Global SAP Center of Excellence (CoE) by implementing industry-specific AI and generative AI use cases to improve daily productivity, decision-making speed, and quality; Integrating generative AI accelerators into project lifecycles within large SAP transformations to boost efficiency and reduce time-to-market; Training 20,000 Capgemini SAP practitioners on SAP’s generative AI tools and methods by mid-2025 to enhance their capabilities.
“We greatly value Capgemini's commitment to SAP Business AI. Together, we will continue to improve business applications and processes based on SAP Business Technology Platform and our AI services to meet our clients' requirements,” said Philipp Herzig, Chief AI Officer, SAP SE. “We are excited to deepen our partnership with Capgemini, combining SAP's Business AI portfolio with Capgemini's industry expertise to create innovative features that help clients rethink their business processes.”
Capgemini and SAP are already helping clients utilise generative AI to assist grocers in minimising food waste by generating proactive campaigns for products nearing their expiry dates; Transforming a leading automobile manufacturer’s direct sourcing function into a proactive, data-driven, and agile process; Developing use cases to drive sales in the semiconductor industry by scanning complex technical documents and offering the best proposals to clients.
“Generative AI has dramatically transformed how organisations operate over the past 18 months,” said Narayanan Balasubramaniam, Global Head of Enterprise Package Based Solutions at Capgemini. “We are expanding our capabilities and partner network to support our clients through the next wave of this transformative technology, where large-scale implementation is key. This extended partnership with SAP will help clients adapt their business processes efficiently, ensuring both short- and long-term success."
A study conducted by Capgemini and released on July 22 indicates that organisations are swiftly adopting generative AI, with its implementation having increased fourfold since 2023. Notably, 80% of companies have raised their annual investments in generative AI, and 75% report that it has contributed to revenue growth and innovation. Additionally, 97% of the surveyed organisations permit their employees to utilise generative AI in various ways.
