In April, Rahul Bhatia-led diversified InterGlobe Enterprises partnered with technology veteran C.P. Gurnani's Assago to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) business venture called AIonOS. The joint venture (JV) aims to provide various AI innovations and to seek partnerships with large enterprises and startups. On Friday the JV announced a partnership with Indonesia’s Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat) to provide AI-led solutions to the enterprise.

The partnership offers a range of solutions, including Sovereign AI, which is a comprehensive suite of AI solutions on a resilient digital infrastructure. This suite aims to transform priority industries like ed-tech in Indonesia by offering integrated products and services for all ecosystem stakeholders. Additionally, it provides industry-specific enterprise AI solutions, such as aviation enterprise AI, to address specific needs, boost revenue, streamline operations, and improve customer satisfaction. Another solution, Data and AI in a Box, enhances Indosat's capabilities with advanced AI applications.

Former CEO of Tech Mahindra C.P. Gurnani, who is now the Executive Vice Chairman of AIonOS, stated that the partnership aims to build AI-native solutions and deliver innovative technologies that empower enterprises to achieve rapid and sustainable growth. “Together, we aim to make AI accessible, beneficial, and transformative for businesses and communities across the nation, setting a benchmark for AI integration and growth in Indonesia,” he said.

InterGlobe has a significant presence in the Travel, Transportation, Logistics, and Hospitality (TTLH) segment, with the country's largest airline, IndiGo, being part of the group. Starting with TTLH, the company has onboarded many businesses from these verticals and is continuously seeking partnerships in India and globally.

During the launch event of Singapore-headquartered AIonOS in April, Gurnani mentioned that the company's centres of excellence are working on a few proof of concept (PoC). He added that the company has one centre in Gurugram and two others in Chennai and Hyderabad, which will become operational in the coming months.

In addition to India, AIonOS will have a presence in other geographies, including North America, Europe, and the Middle East, as stated by the founders during the launch event.

Notably, Gurnani's former company Tech Mahindra, announced in February that it has also partnered with Indosat to create 'Garuda', an AI model that aims to preserve the national language and local dialects of Indonesia. Using 16 billion tokens, the model will be built in alignment with Tech Mahindra's Indigenous LLM 'Project Indus', and will collect and curate Indonesian data that will be pre-trained and released as a conversational model for Indosat.
