PhantomFX cuts production times by 30% with Pure Storage
Advanced data storage technology solutions provider Pure Storage has announced that PhantomFX, a visual effects (VFX) studio, has significantly upgraded its data storage and management infrastructure using its platform. This move has enabled PhantomFX to improve production times, enhance business resilience, and reduce energy consumption, laying a strong foundation for future growth.
PhantomFX faced critical challenges with its previous storage infrastructure, including fragmented storage systems, the threat of ransomware, and the need to reduce its carbon footprint. Each department operated separate storage systems, causing inefficiencies and hampering productivity. The film industry’s rising ransomware threats made enhancing data protection a priority. Additionally, PhantomFX aimed to cut energy consumption to lower its carbon footprint.
Pure Storage, in collaboration with Techfruits Solutions, streamlined PhantomFX’s data onto the Pure Storage platform, leading to increased productivity as VFX artists now save up to 30% of their time with minimal storage latency. The FlashBlade//S platform's SafeMode feature and rapid data restoration capabilities enhance security, while energy usage has been lowered by approximately 35,000 kWh annually. Additionally, Pure Storage’s DirectFlash technology and data compression offer ample space for future growth.
Boopathy Thangamuthu, IT Manager at PhantomFX, praised FlashBlade’s real-time storage, highlighting its role in saving around 30% of daily man-hours and machine-hours. He emphasized the peace of mind provided by the platform’s robust security against ransomware.
Ramanujam Komanduri, Country Manager for Pure Storage India, underscored the importance of reliable data solutions for the VFX industry, noting that Pure Storage’s technology supports companies like PhantomFX in achieving strong growth.
Lenin Christopher, Director at TechFruits, highlighted the transformative impact of Pure Storage FlashBlade//S on PhantomFX’s workflows, resulting in a 30% productivity boost for VFX artists.
