The Gujarat government, on Tuesday, signed an agreement with Intel for an artificial intelligence (AI) readiness initiative. Under the partnership, students, professionals, and other interested citizens will be offered access to emerging technologies, skills, and toolsets through Intel’s platform. 

“This partnership with Intel Corporation will accelerate the vision of making Gujarat a hub for innovation and investment in the digital economy,” the state government said in a statement. 

The initiative will be implemented in collaboration with multiple partners and stakeholders including regional science centers, academic institutions and government bodies, the government said.

Notably, on Saturday, the state government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IBM to establish and promote an AI Cluster. It will be based on IBM’s suite of generative AI solutions called watsonx to be leveraged by financial institutions in Gujarat International Finance Tec (GIFT) City. As part of this collaboration, financial institutions will gain access to AI Sandbox, assistance in providing proof of concept, AI Literacy programs and Digital Assistant Solutions. IBM will also build a digital assistant-based solution for onboarding and integration of customised large language models for financial institutions.

To be sure, in March, the center government approved an outlay of ₹10,000 crore for the IndiaAI Mission. The mission will support various initiatives including building compute capability, establishing datasets platform, startup financing, and ensuring safe and trusted AI development. The aim is to ensure structured implementation of the IndiaAI Mission through a public-private partnership model, the government statement said. 

Under the mission, the government will be establishing scalable AI computing infrastructure by deploying over 10,000 GPUs through public-private partnerships.
