Skyflow, a US-based data privacy vault company, reported significant growth in its India operation, as it aims to double its workforce by year-end. This expansion is intended to enhance support for Indian businesses as they navigate the complexities of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) law, especially in sectors such as BFSI, e-commerce, and healthcare that need to increasingly comply with DPDP law, which imposes fines for non-compliance, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.

According to the company, the growth is supported by a combined $95 million investment from leading venture capital companies such as Khosla Ventures and Dentsu Ventures, the company said.

The DPDP law, enacted in 2023, safeguards personal information and mandates that companies handle data with utmost care. Violations can result in hefty fines of up to 250 crore rupees per incident, compelling businesses to prioritize data protection measures.

Anshu Sharma, Co-founder and CEO of Skyflow stressed the need for safeguarding Personally identifiable information (PII) and Aadhaar information. The law has established strict guidelines for data protection, requiring compliance to avoid significant legal and financial repercussions of up to ₹250 crore ($30 million) per breach. Skyflow assists businesses in meeting and exceeding these stringent data protection standards, he said.

The Khosla Ventures-backed company has seen an increase in demand for its Data Privacy Vault technology in India, with a threefold rise in the past year and an anticipated fourfold revenue growth in the upcoming fiscal year. Skyflow also helps organisations address Gen AI-related governance, safety, and privacy risks, thereby facilitating GenAI adoption for enterprises. Sharma also mentioned that Skyflow is investing in the local tech sector, promoting job creation and advancing state-of-the-art data protection and privacy-enhancing technologies.

Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures, said, “The newly enacted DPDP law in India requires businesses to rethink how data is managed and protected across their applications, clouds, and LLMs. Skyflow’s innovative approach to securing PII and Aadhaar data is crucial for business compliance and for building trust in India’s rapidly growing digital economy.”
