IBM to establish GenAI Innovation Center in Kochi

Global technology major IBM has announced the launch of its GenAI Innovation Center in Kochi for enterprises, start-ups, and partners to build and innovate with generative AI. Through the innovation center, the organisations will get access to IBM experts and technologies to build, scale, and accelerate the adoption of enterprise-grade AI.

The center will be part of the IBM India Software Lab in Kochi, with access to the latest in generative AI technology, large language models (LLMs), and case studies. It will leveraged to address societal and business challenges ranging from sustainability, public infrastructure, healthcare education, inclusion and others.

The GenAI Innovation Center furthers IBM's commitment to nurturing India's AI community and catalysing innovation through co-creation and collaboration with an aim to serve the country's best interests of growing AI skilled talent, boosting organization productivity and improving citizen services,” said Dinesh Nirmal, Senior Vice President, Products, IBM Software.

The center is built on InstructLab, a new technology jointly developed by IBM and Red Hat for enhancing LLMs with a client's own data. The center will also take advantage of IBM watsonx AI and data platform and AI assistant technologies. It will allow clients to learn about the fine-tuning of LLMs and to partner with IBM to have their own trained, fine-tuned, and governed models deployed for their enterprise use cases.
 
To be sure, HCLTech partnered with IBM last month to launch a Generative AI Center of Excellence (Gen AI CoE). The facility will be based on IBM’s generative AI suite of services watsonx AI and data platform. Together with IBM, HCLTech aims to train 10,000 of its engineers and architects in IBM's innovative AI technologies, specifically watsonx.
