Kyndryl elevates Kim Basile to CIO role, announces reshuffle in key tech positions
IT infrastructure provider Kyndryl has appointed Kim Basile as the new chief information officer. Basile succeeds Michael Bradshaw, who will now be leading the company’s Application, Data, and AI practice. Additionally, Nicolas Sekkaki has been named the Practice Leader for Kyndryl’s Cloud practice.
In her role as the CIO, Basile will build on the company’s foundational technology developed by Kyndryl’s CIO team in the last two years, while enhancing employee experience. She is being elevated from her previous role of vice president – IT transformation and strategy. In the past, Basile has worked at Lockheed Martin and Vanguard.
“Kim has been a vital leader in Kyndryl’s digital transformation, which makes for a smooth transition to CIO. She has deep expertise in cybersecurity, risk mitigation, compliance and business resiliency, which makes her an ideal candidate for this role,” said Martin Schroeter, Chairman and CEO.
Further, as the leader of Kyndrl’s Data and AI practice, Bradshaw will work in close partnership with the Kyndryl Consult, the company’s alliance partners, and other practices to help customers modernise their complex technology environments and implement AI. Apart from Kyndryl, Bradshaw has also worked with NBCUniversal Media, Lockheed Martin and IBM.
Lastly, Sekakki as the global leader for Cloud will help support Kyndryl’s customers to modernise and transform with Cloud. He most recently served as Kyndryl’s Global Practice Leader for Applications, Data and AI. Prior to Kyndryl, he held several leadership roles at CMA CGM, IBM and SAP.
In the first full year as an independent company, Kyndryl saw a 7% decline in global revenues to $17 billion, largely due to negative impact from currency in FY23. The company’s India business in contrast has fared much better. As per data compiled by VCCEdge, in the year ended March 2023, Kyndryl India recorded revenues of ₹8,504 crore, as against previous year’s ₹7,714 crore. It remained a little over $1 billion in both the years.
