o9 Solutions, an enterprise AI software platform provider, has announced an upgrade to its Digital Brain platform by integrating generative AI-powered Large Language Model (LLM) composite agents.

These new composite agents aim to transform the execution of complex tasks, enhancing integrated business planning capabilities. The agents are built from atomic agents, AI-driven systems capable of performing tasks, retrieving information, and generating responses based on specific inputs. The LLM systems are trained with business-specific information.

The core of the o9 Digital Brain platform, the Enterprise Knowledge Graph (EKG), allows these composite agents to combine atomic agents for more complex, cross-functional planning processes. This includes tasks like forecasting or post-game analysis by retrieving and synthesizing data to produce outcomes such as month-to-month forecast analysis or comparing previous forecasts with actual results for root-cause analysis.

Composite agents are trained using the 'recipes' from an organisation's planning experts and continuously improve from feedback, becoming more efficient at achieving desired outcomes.

“Our Digital Brain’s EKG offers cross-functionality as it touches supply chain, finance, procurement, commercial, customers and suppliers. It connects the knowledge of all these entities – and is constantly accumulating new knowledge as well,” said Anand Srinivasan, o9’s Chief Strategy Officer. “Now we are deploying composite agents that can do a lot more cross-functional analysis.”

“In the years to come, we believe that the quality of a business’s digital knowledge and how it informs the company’s business planning and decision-making will be a competitive advantage that propels it forward,” said Chakri Gottemukkala, Co-Founder and CEO of o9.

In April, o9 also announced an expansion of its collaboration with Microsoft. The integration of Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service applications with the o9 Digital Brain aims to improve the platform’s AI-powered planning capabilities. Azure OpenAI Service provides REST API access to powerful large language models (LLM), including GPT-4, GPT-3.5-Turbo, and Embeddings model series. These models assist in content generation, summarization, image understanding, semantic search, and natural language-to-code translation.
