JSW Steel has partnered with Japanese steel manufacturer JFE Steel for digitalisation initiative. Under the partnership, JSW Steel will receive proprietary CPS capability from JFE through a cloud-based environment. The two companies will be further extending this collaboration for various other digital transformation initiatives in steel production.

Notably, pilot demonstration of cloud-based cyber-physical system (CPS) technologies for blast furnace operations has already commenced at JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works. The project is called Blast Furnace Cyber-Physical System (BF-CPS), which will help JSW Steel to visualise and predict the blast furnace operations as well as aid in abnormality predictiveness through hot metal temperature control model & channeling prediction.

The company said in a statement that this project will reduce operational impediments at its blast furnaces resulting in agile and stable operational outcomes, while also reducing Co2 emissions.

“The digital collaboration with JFE to introduce Blast Furnace Cyber-Physical System technologies further strengthens our long-standing partnership with JFE Steel. This technological intervention will enable us to enhance the efficiencies of our blast furnace operations while positioning JSW Steel as a top-runner in data science tech deployment in the global steel sector,” said Gajraj Singh Rathore, COO – Manufacturing of JSW Steel.

Through strategic collaboration with JFE Steel, spanning 15 years, has enabled JSW to access new and state-of-the-art technologies to produce and offer high-value special steel products which are used across industries and applications including construction, infrastructure, automobile, electrical applications, and appliances.
