AWS announces $50 mn investment for GenAI in public sector
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a two-year, $50 million investment for public sector organisations. Called the AWS Public Sector Generative Artificial Intelligence Impact Initiatives, the program aims to help critical missions using AWS generative AI services and infrastructure, such as Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q, and Amazon SageMaker, among others.
The fund will consist of AWS Promotional Credits, training, and technical expertise across generative AI projects such as the Generative AI Innovation Center. The selected organisations will also be offered networking and free builder sessions, along with global thought leadership opportunities. The Beneficiaries will be selected based on factors such as the customer’s experience developing new technology solutions, the maturity of the project idea, evidence of future solution adoption, and the customer’s breadth of generative AI skills. They may be existing or new AWS public sector customers.
To be sure, last week Salesforce also introduced its Public Sector division, for India, focusing on empowering government agencies and public sector organisations to enhance citizen experiences using Salesforce technology. Built on the Salesforce Einstein 1 Platform, these solutions include out-of-the-box apps designed for digital service delivery. They leverage AI and automation tools to enhance service agility, efficiency, and overall digital transformation.
In May 2023, AWS announced it plans to invest $12.7 billion into cloud infrastructure in India by 2030 to meet growing customer demand for cloud services in India. This investment is estimated to contribute $23.3 billion to India’s total gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030. This planned investment in data center infrastructure in India will support an estimated average of 1,31,700 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs in Indian businesses each year, the company said in a statement then.
