TCS launches Internet of Things engineering lab in Ohio
India's largest IT services and consulting firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), announced on Tuesday the launch of a new Internet of Things (IoT) engineering lab in the US. The lab, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is designed to support rapid prototyping, experimentation, and large-scale implementation of AI, GenAI, and IoT engineering solutions. This will enable TCS to assist clients in bringing innovative solutions to life faster and more efficiently, as stated in a company press release.
Spanning 3,000 square feet, the lab will advance the deployment of TCS' comprehensive suite of IoT solutions, including TCS Clever Energy, TCS Digital Manufacturing Platform (DMP), and TCS Digifleet, among others.
These solutions cater to various industries, such as healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing, energy and resources, consumer packaged goods, and more. The lab will also facilitate collaboration and co-innovation among businesses, integrating physical assets, partner technologies, and customer challenges to create new offerings and solutions.
Additionally, the lab will showcase TCS' innovative solutions, such as the TCS Neural Manufacturing solution, providing autonomous and intelligent capabilities for factories, and the TCS connected healthcare platform, offering personalised medicine solutions.
Amit Bajaj, president of America at TCS, said that the “company’s investment in the Bringing Life to Things Lab in Ohio will help our clients bridge the traditional divide between operational and digital technology by rapidly turning their ideas into minimum viable products that reimagine their value chain at scale." With its strategic location in Cincinnati, home to TCS' largest American delivery centre, the lab is well-positioned to leverage the area's tech talent to assist customers across North America.
Regu Ayyaswamy, Global Head of IoT and Digital Engineering at TCS, added that the lab will "spark co-innovation, enabling clients to brainstorm and collaborate through design thinking workshops and unlock the full potential of IoT, AI, and GenAI technologies."
TCS has a strong presence in the US across various industries, including banking and financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and more. It offers a wide range of services, including digital transformation, cloud computing, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
North America accounts for half of TCS' total revenues, with the region bringing in around 1.2 trillion Indian rupees in the fiscal year 2022-23. The company has multiple delivery centres and offices across the United States, including in major cities like New York, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and Ohio.
In April, TCS reported consolidated revenues of $29.08 billion for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, representing a 4.1% increase year-over-year. While this is one of the lowest annual revenue growth rates that TCS has ever reported, it remains one of the best among large-cap IT services firms for FY24.
