Big Four accounting firm, PwC has now become the largest enterprise customer of ChatGPT-maker OpenAI. In an announcement made on Wednesday, PwC signed a deal with the AI company to become its first resale partner. As part of the announcement, the company’s US and UK firms have signed an agreement with OpenAI. The financial details of the agreement have not been revealed.

“By embracing ChatGPT Enterprise across our workforce, we will bring our first-hand experience of our AI transformation to clients, complementing our audit, tax and consulting services with a broad array of business and industry solutions,” the company said in its blog.

PwC said that this deal will allow its US and UK employees and clients gain access to latest tools from OpenAI, including the latest GPT-4o. The Wall Street Journal, which had earlier reported on the deal said that over a lakh employees will get ChatGPT Enterprise license – 75,000 in US and rest in UK. PwC, however, hasn’t specified the number. PwC is currently developing custom GPTs to reviewing tax returns, proposal response generation, software lifecycle assistants, dashboard and report generation and more.

In April 2023, PwC US announced a plan to invest $1 billion over the next three years to expand and scale its AI offerings. This builds on the existing industry relationship with Microsoft for creating offerings using GPT-4/ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service. “PwC will leverage this technology to help support clients in reinventing their businesses and delivering better outcomes by generating richer insights, driving more productivity and developing new products and services in a way that builds greater trust with their stakeholders,” the company had then said.
