Wipro bags multi-million-dollar deal to transform Nokia's digital workplace services

Indian IT services company Wipro has signed a multi-million-dollar agreement with telecommunications major Nokia to overhaul the latter's employee service desk and offer real-time IT support to a global network of employees, in a multi-million dollar deal. Wipro team will build a bespoke AI-powered, cloud-based solution for Nokia's workforce comprising around 86,700 users globally in 130 countries of operations, the company informed stock exchanges on April 30.

The solution aims to enhance the employee experience by providing highly available, modular, secure, and automated services”, it added.

The financial details of the deal haven't been disclosed by both firms at the time of publishing the story. However, the company statement said the deal is worth several million dollars.Designit, a unit of Wipro that specialises in user experience strategy and implementation, will conduct user research to ensure personalised assistance is offered to employees at the right time, Wipro said.

Vinay Firake, senior vice president & managing director of Nordics, Wipro, said generative AI is quickly becoming a crucial component in the digital workplace services space. “Our technology cloud-based expertise, combined with our design-led approach, will provide Nokia employees a highly personalized support, allowing them to better leverage technology and deliver better value to their customers,” Firake said.
Marije van Donk, vice president, and head of User Experience, at Nokia, said, “Implementing this concept will empower our users to self-service their issues, give intelligent and contextual guidance, and connect users with experts.”

Last week, on Friday, Wipro said that its net profit fell by 8% to ₹2,835 crore for the fiscal fourth quarter, compared to the same period last year when it stood at ₹3,074 crore for the quarter ended on March 31, 2024. Wipro's consolidated revenue saw a decline of 4.2%, amounting to ₹22,208 crore, down from ₹23,190 crore in the same period last year. However, this figure surpassed analysts' forecasts of ₹22,151 crore, according to data from London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG),
