Vodafone Idea teams up with homegrown 6D Technologies to expand its IoT offerings

Vodafone Idea (Vi), the telecom joint venture between UK's Vodafone Plc and India's Aditya Birla Group, has announced a partnership with Bengaluru-based technology provider 6D Technologies’ Infinity Connectivity Management and Device Management solution to enhance the Vi IoT Smart Central platform. This platform aims to improve the digital experience for Vi’s Enterprise customers in India, offering real-time visibility and comprehensive management capabilities for various (Internet of Things) IoT services.

"The platform provides Vi's enterprise customers with a superior digital experience, real-time visibility, and end-to-end management capabilities for multiple IoT services in India," the companies said in a statement on Wednesday at the Mobile World Congress 2024.

Through this collaboration, Vodafone Idea is launching the "Vi IoT Smart Central platform", powered by 6D's Infinity. This platform enables seamless integration and management of IoT devices, allowing enterprises to accelerate the rollout of their specialised IoT vertical applications across industries like automobiles, banking, and utilities.

It serves as a single solution for managing all aspects of the IoT business, from onboarding enterprises to enabling different IoT products, self-care digital experiences, real-time visibility of IoT devices, SIM lifecycle management, and real-time charging, billing, and invoicing for end customers.

The joint statement also mentioned that it enables product configuration to provide different IoT offers to customers and gives full control to business teams to manage end-to-end service and order management.

"The platform provides out-of-the-box functionalities to enable the Vi network and the IT team to seamlessly support various customers, provide superior turnaround time, and better SLAs while supporting the business team to monetise these innovative features. It will truly be a game-changer for Vi enterprise customers," said Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone Idea.

Reportedly, as a result of this collaboration, Vi has achieved greater autonomy in managing its operations.

On Tuesday, 6D Technologies announced a collaborative partnership with Smart Communications. Through this collaboration, 6D Technologies and Smart will work together to streamline sales and distribution processes, automate inventory management, optimise resource allocation, and improve dealer efficiency. Smart plans to leverage 6D Technologies’ Ventas, an AI-driven Sales and Distribution Management platform, to enhance operational excellence and maintain its leadership position in the telecommunications sector.
